Waterfall

Cascading down a rocky cliff, this tall waterfall pours in smooth flowing lines into a swirling pool below, framed by a few rounded boulders and leafy ferns along the edges, with a couple of small trees perched on top of the cliff. The long sweep of falling water and the open pool give younger kids big areas to fill, while the rocks, ferns and swirling pool offer detail for older colorers. Waterfalls form where a river flows over a hard ledge of rock and drops to softer ground below, slowly wearing the cliff back over time. Cool blues and whites suit the rushing water, with grays and browns for the rocks and greens for the ferns and trees. Leaving streaks of white in the falling water makes it look fast and foamy.
